I have always been a tinkerer at heart.

As a young physician working in a federally funded clinic in Missouri, I encountered a significant challenge: in nearly one-third of the women I screened for cervical cancer and pre-cancers, visualizing the cervix was difficult. I sought guidance from colleagues and tried various techniques, only to find that many physicians faced the same frustrating obstacle.

Beyond the difficulty of obtaining a clear view of the cervix, the traditional vaginal speculum was outdated—cumbersome, inefficient, and often uncomfortable for patients. I knew there had to be a better way.

Determined to modernize this 2,000-year-old instrument, I set out to redesign—not just refine, but truly revolutionize—the vaginal speculum.

When my sister was diagnosed with cervical cancer despite two consecutive "normal" Pap tests, my mission became even more urgent. I committed myself fully to bringing a better solution to market—one that could improve both the patient and provider experience while enhancing the accuracy of cervical cancer screening.

Now, nearly 30 years after the initial concept, Viospex has introduced the Bouquet Speculum, a groundbreaking innovation designed to transform gynecological care. With extensive research and real-world experience, we are leading the charge in modernizing this essential medical device—because women's health deserves better.
